EDIT:If anybody's interested in a HQ pic of this or a print, then take a look here:
I used my usual - watercolors, black ink, white correction fluid, some markers and white gel pen... I am, once again, in a "no scanner situation" So I will replace it with a HQ pic sometime later Reference (with permission) by
"Though Demeter is often described simply as the goddess of the harvest, she presided also over the sacred law, and the cycle of life and death." Poppies were usually used as her symbol.
Wow oh my gosh, as I was looking through the watercolor folder's art submissions my eyes went straight for this one. The vivid coloring is just to die for, Its vibrant but soft and dreamy mixed with the hues of blue and pink. So I appreciated first the colors, then the overall skill and shading that was used, its the bold deep highlights on her skin and the selective shining placed on it that makes her face seem so real. There is also a general disruption with the splatters but its held together like perfectly placed freckles on face, just the overall position and flow and shape of the image is something very pleasing to the eye. Very nice job! ^-^
This is an amazing painting! The skin tones and the vivid blue and red really work wonders. I love how you transformed the reference. It's absolutely beautiful. I think the photo/scan doesn't do it justice.
Wow, wow! Your skill swith water colours and ink are impressive. This is lovely. You've captured the likeness of the reference while making it entirely your own. And I absolutely adorable the petals and flowers throughout the piece. Wonderful work!
